“Pha Tub Cave Forest Park is renowned for its stalactite and stalagmite caves and scenic mountain views, ideal for trekking, hiking, and nature photography.”
Pha Tub Cave Forest Park is located in Ban Pha Tub, Pha Singh, 12 kilometers from Nan city along Highway 1080 (Nan–Pua–Thung Chang), near kilometers 9–10. The park covers approximately 528 rai and offers several points of interest:
Nature Trails – Home to rare plant species such as Chan Pa trees and Euang Phueng orchids, which bloom around the end of the rainy season. Several walking trails are available, including the trail to Thip Water Cave, the trail from the park office to the viewpoint, and a loop around the office area.
Viewpoint – Located on Pa Sang Mountain, next to Thip Water Cave on the south side, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and Nan city.
Thip Water Cave – The cave has a hall approximately 30 square wah in size, with a ceiling opening allowing light in. Stalactites surround the cave, and one wall has a deep recess forming a hollow. There is an oval pool that remains filled with water year-round, considered sacred. The cave entrance requires climbing along the cliff and is about 1,200 meters from the park office. During the rainy season, water may block access.
Glass Pagoda Cave – A small cave with a rock in front resembling a pagoda.
Kon Cave – Long and log-like in shape, with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. The entrance is flanked by a cliff.
Phra Cave – A large cave with a ground area of about 50 square wah, featuring a ceiling opening with incoming light and air, and adorned with stalactites and stalagmites.
Nong Nan Forest – A tropical forest with diverse plant species different from those commonly found in Nan. Plants grow naturally in order, creating a shady and beautiful forest area.
On the 15th day of the 5th lunar month (Northern Thailand calendar), the locals of Ban Pha Tub hold the annual “Pha Tub Cave Festival”.
