“Visit the "Teskrangsi Memorial," a pagoda museum built in remembrance of Luang Pu Tesk Tesrangsi. It features a refined blend of applied art and nature, housing a statue and relics of Luang Pu Tesk. Enjoy the fresh mountain air while you explore the site.”

Wat Tham Kham, also known as "Thesk Rangsi Anusorn," is situated atop Phu Kham Hill within the majestic Phu Phan Mountain Range in Phanna Nikhom District, Sakon Nakhon. This temple stands as a significant spiritual landmark dedicated to the masters of the "Thai Forest Tradition" (Kammatthana), following the lineage of Ajahn Mun Bhuridatta. Its history dates back to 1951 when Luang Pu Fan Ajaro, a renowned meditation master, discovered this secluded cave during his wandering pilgrimage. At that time, the area was a dense, untamed forest inhabited by wild animals. Recognizing its profound tranquility and suitability for intensive meditation, he established it as a monastic retreat. Later, in 1964, Luang Pu Thesk Thesrangsi, one of the most respected senior disciples of the lineage, moved to reside here. He utilized Wat Tham Kham as his primary base for teaching Dhamma to monks and laypeople for decades until his peaceful passing in 1994.

The architectural centerpiece of the temple is the "Phra Chedi Thesk Rangsi Anusorn," an elegant four-sided pagoda with a lotus-bud pinnacle (Phum Khao Bin style) perched dramatically on the cliffside. Designed by architect Somkiat Lohchindarat, the structure is built upon a solid rock foundation and represents a harmonious blend of contemporary applied Thai art and the minimalist aesthetic of forest monasteries. The top level of the chedi enshrines sacred Buddha relics, while the ground floor serves as a comprehensive museum. This museum houses the "Atthaparikhan" (the eight monastic requisites) of Luang Pu Thesk, including his monk’s robes, alms bowl, and personal items, offering a glimpse into his disciplined and simple lifestyle. A life-sized bronze statue of the master is also enshrined on a marble pedestal for devotees to pay homage.

The temple's landscape is characterized by its preserved natural state, featuring massive boulders and cliffs that have been integrated into the temple's structures. For instance, the main Dhamma hall (Sala Kan Parian) is uniquely built over a natural rock overhang. The grounds also feature designated "Jongkrom" (meditation walking) paths and monks' huts scattered along the slopes, embodying the forest monks' philosophy of living in harmony with nature without disturbing it. The name "Tham Kham" (Tamarind Cave) is derived from the wild tamarind trees found clinging to the rocky cliffs nearby. Today, Wat Tham Kham remains more than just a cultural site; it is a living school of Dhamma where practitioners continue to follow the meditative path of the great masters, surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views of the Sakon Nakhon plains and the undulating peaks of the Phu Phan Mountains.
