“Beautiful 11-tiered limestone waterfall with a 4 km hiking trail through lush rainforest and clear pools for swimming, in a peaceful atmosphere.”

Sib Et Chan Waterfall is a waterfall located in Khao Sok National Park, notable for its “Karst Landscape,” which resulted from millions of years of calcium carbonate sediment accumulation. This created natural step-like rock formations, causing the water to flow in a gradual cascade, unlike typical high cliff waterfalls.

A notable feature here is the 11-tiered waterfall arranged in rhythmic succession. Each tier has varying height_s and slopes, creating both small pools and waterways that spread out like curtains of water. During the rainy season (June–October), the water volume increases, filling every tier and creating a mist. In the dry season, the water is clear, revealing the patterns of limestone and moss distinctly.

The 4-kilometer hiking trail to the waterfall is considered one of the most complete nature trails in Khao Sok. Visitors will encounter a Tropical Rainforest ecosystem that is over 160 million years old, older than some parts of the Amazon. Along the way, there are prominent plant species such as Yang Na trees, Hopea odorata, wild palms, as well as epiphytes like orchids and ancient ferns. Small wildlife such as lizards, rare insects, and various forest birds may also be encountered.

Geologically, the water flowing through the limestone contains dissolved minerals, causing some sections of the waterfall to accumulate calcium, forming natural pools that are curved and range in color from emerald green to clear, depending on the light and depth of the pool.

The lowest tier of the waterfall is the most suitable spot for relaxation and swimming, as the current is not strong and the area is spacious. It is surrounded by moss, ferns, and high humidity throughout the year, creating a “Forest Bathing” atmosphere, which research supports for reducing stress and balancing the body.

Additionally, this trail is considered a moderately challenging trail, suitable for those with some hiking experience, as some sections may have tree roots, slippery rocks, and slight inclines, especially during the rainy season when the ground is very moist.

With all these elements, Sib Et Chan Waterfall is not just an ordinary waterfall but a comprehensive natural learning resource covering ecosystems, geology, and conservation tourism, ideal for those who want to experience nature deeply and genuinely.
