“Experience the tranquility of a seaside mosque reflecting traditional Malay architecture, and explore the history and legends at Dato Parp Cemetery, located beside the mosque.”

Ban Dato Mosque is situated on the Laem Pho peninsula, an important maritime strategic area of Pattani Province. The mosque is distinguished by its simple yet faith-filled appearance. The original structure combined traditional Malay architectural elements with classic wooden craftsmanship. Although it has undergone renovations over time, it continues to serve as the spiritual heart of an ancient fishing community that has been passed down through generations.

The mosque’s significance is closely connected to Dato Parp Cemetery (Dato Parp), located nearby. According to local legend, Dato Parp was a naval commander or revered noble figure during the era of the ancient Pattani Kingdom, known for defending the land. He later became a legendary figure deeply respected by the local community.

Ban Dato village lies along Pattani Bay, a rich marine resource area. The mosque marks the beginning of the local seafaring way of life, where every morning fishermen set out to sea in beautifully painted kolae boats. The scenery around the mosque changes with the tides and shifting sunlight over the bay, creating a serene and spiritually reflective atmosphere.

Visitors to Ban Dato Mosque do more than admire a religious structure—they witness the enduring relationship between people, faith, and the sea, harmoniously sustained for over a century.

Today, Ban Dato is also recognized as a learning site for coastal resource management, with mangrove forests preserved around the village as habitats for marine life. A visit to the mosque is often included in cultural and ecological tourism routes of Yaring District, alongside Yaring Palace and Talok Kapor Beach. Visitors can enjoy the warm hospitality of the community and savor fresh seafood sourced directly from local fishermen whose lives remain closely tied to the mosque and their faith.
