“Bun Na Khon Rak Khita Ram Temple is the spiritual center for the people of Nakhon Nayok, famous for the sanctity of Luang Por Sian Nakhon, a Sukhothai-era”

Bun Na Khon Rak Khita Ram Temple, or what is known as "Wat Tam" (The Low Temple), is a royal monastery under the Maha Nikaya order. It is believed to have been founded during the Sukhothai period around 1870 AD (B.E. 2423). The Temple has a long history and holds profound spiritual significance for the people of Nakhon Nayok Province. The most distinctive feature of the Temple is that it houses "Luang Por Sian Nakhon."

Luang Por Sian Nakhon is a sacred Buddha image believed by locals to possess protective powers and bestow good fortune. It is thought to be a Phra Ruang style Buddha image from the Sukhothai period. The head of the image was discovered in 1952 (B.E. 2495) near a distillery close to Wat Nang Hong. Only the head was found at that time. Later, in 1968 (B.E. 2511), devotees constructed the body and a Vihara (shrine hall) to complete the image, bestowing the name "Luang Por Sian Nakhon." The complete Buddha image has been an object of worship and devotion ever since.

In addition to Luang Por Sian Nakhon, the Temple also features a large stucco Buddha image presiding over the meditation courtyard, which is another significant spot for Buddhists seeking to practice dharma and make merit. The Temple grounds are peaceful and shady, with a riverside pavilion provided for the public to relax or make merit by releasing fish in a tranquil setting. The Temple has also constructed a new Uposatha (ordination hall) to replace the smaller, original one to accommodate the growing number of monastic activities, though the old Uposatha is preserved for the public to visit and pay respects to the principal Buddha image inside.
