“Ban Dong Drama Archaeological Site or Dong Drama City is a national archaeological site. Originally known as "Muang Lublae", it was the location of an ancient city in the Khmer period. The wall is a mound and moat appears. The villagers call it "Sanku Mueang" with moats surrounded by a moat, which is typical of the city of Tawadee city in central Thailand.”

Ban Dong Lakhon Archaeological Site is the ruin of a large ancient city with a distinctive rectangular layout, surrounded by an earthen wall and a moat. This physical structure is characteristic of ancient cities during the Dvaravati period (11th-16th Buddhist centuries). Significant artifacts have been unearthed both within and outside the city limits, including pottery, glass beads, iron tools, Buddha images in the Naga Prok posture, stone inscriptions, and the remains of what were once large religious structures. These findings reflect its past prosperity and its importance as a community center for centuries.

The site's key features include the remaining archaeological mounds believed to be the ruins of stupas or viharas, the unique town planning, and its completeness as an archaeological site, evidenced by the artifacts displayed in a nearby local museum. The area still offers a strong sense of tranquility and the antiquity of a civilization abandoned centuries ago. It is a must-visit location for history enthusiasts.

We invite everyone to experience the grandeur of the Dvaravati civilization at the Ban Dong Lakhon Archaeological Site to enrich your knowledge and historical imagination.
