“A three-story mosque in Arabic style, featuring a large dome and minaret. Its elegant white structure stands by the Bang Nara River, especially beautiful when illuminated in the evening.”
Masjid Jamiah Al-Ahmadi is an important mosque in Narathiwat Province, located near the mouth of the Bang Nara River. It was built in 1981 (B.E. 2524) to accommodate the growing number of Muslims in the urban area.
The mosque features an architectural design inspired by Arabic style, blended with local southern influences. The structure emphasizes simplicity, tranquility, and openness in accordance with Islamic principles.
The building consists of three main levels:
- Ground floor: A multi-purpose space used for community activities such as religious education and gatherings
- Middle floor: An additional prayer area to support large crowds
- Upper floor: The main prayer hall, oriented toward the Qibla (Mecca), with a simple interior that promotes peace and concentration
Key architectural elements include:
- A large central dome, representing traditional Islamic identity
- A minaret used for the call to prayer (Adhan)
- A white color scheme symbolizing purity and faith
- Natural ventilation design that allows airflow from the nearby river
Beyond being a place of worship, the mosque also serves as a cultural and social center for the Muslim community in Narathiwat. It hosts religious events, Islamic celebrations, and community gatherings.
Thanks to its riverside location, the mosque is also a popular scenic spot. In the evening, when the lights are turned on, the reflection on the river creates a peaceful and picturesque atmosphere—ideal for photography and relaxation
