“Stroll along the crescent-shaped beach lined with tall pine trees and admire the unique and picturesque seaside rock formations.”

Ao Manao is a distinctive beach characterized by its naturally curved bay that harmoniously receives waves from the Gulf of Thailand. The area has been designated as part of Ao Manao–Khao Tanyong National Park and shares boundaries with Thaksin Ratchaniwet Palace, ensuring that the surrounding environment remains well preserved. The beach stretches approximately 4 kilometers, extending from Narathat Beach to the cape of Khao Tanyong. Along the shoreline, dense rows of sea pine trees provide ample shade, interspersed with various rock formations rising prominently along the water’s edge, making them popular photo spots for visitors.

The atmosphere at Ao Manao is more private and tranquil compared to Narathat Beach. Being located within a national park, there are minimal constructions that disturb the scenery. In addition to the sandy shore, there is a nature trail leading to a botanical garden and a variety of plant species growing densely along the foothills of Tanyong Hill. During low tide, rock lines and coastal marine life become visible for observation. Nearby is the "Pikun Thong Royal Development Study Center", an important royal initiative learning center. Visiting Ao Manao is therefore not only about enjoying the sea but also about appreciating the richness of a coastal forest ecosystem that is increasingly rare today.

How to Get There
  • Private Car: From Narathiwat town, take Highway 4084 (Narathiwat–Tak Bai route) for approximately 3 kilometers. You will see a left turn leading to Ao Manao. Continue along the paved road a short distance to reach the beach and the national park office.
  • Public Transport: Take a bus on the Narathiwat–Tak Bai route or a van on the Sungai Kolok route and inform the staff to drop you at the entrance to Ao Manao. From there, a local hired vehicle may be required to reach the beach as it is approximately 1–2 kilometers from the main road.

Travel Tips

Suitable for picnicking, relaxing, and photographing seaside rock formations. Exercise caution when swimming as some areas contain submerged rocks.

As it is located within a national park, please dispose of waste properly and refrain from activities that may damage the environment.

Late afternoon to early evening offers the most beautiful scenery, when sunlight reflects off the rocks and sea in golden hues.

Visitors can also travel to Thaksin Ratchaniwet Palace or the Pikun Thong Royal Development Study Center, both located just a few kilometers away.
