“A small, peaceful waterfall with clear water flowing year-round. Easily accessible by road, with shallow pools ideal for relaxing, swimming, and enjoying nature.”
Inthason Waterfall is a small granite waterfall formed by natural erosion, creating wide rock platforms and shallow pools. Instead of a steep drop, water gently flows along the forested slopes of the Betong mountain range, producing a soft, soothing ambient sound as it passes over layered rocks—ideal for relaxation.
The waterfall is named after the Inthason family, a historic local family who contributed to the development of the Tanoh Maero area. Once a vital water source for nearby communities, it is now considered a “natural reception area” of Betong, as it lies along Route 410 leading to Piyamit Tunnel and the Winter Flower Garden, making it a common stop for travelers.
Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, the area is rich in native plants such as giant ferns and large shade trees, keeping the temperature cooler than nearby areas. The clear water supports local fish, including the rare pink Mahseer found in Yala.
Today, the site is well managed by the local municipality, with rest pavilions, safe walkways, and access stairs. There are also small local stalls selling Betong specialties like traditional grass jelly and seasonal fruits, allowing visitors to enjoy both nature and local culture in one place.
How to Get There
- By Car: From Betong town, take Highway 410 toward Piyamit Tunnel for about 15 km. The waterfall is on the right with clear signage and parking available.
