“The Phrabat Si Roi (Four Buddha Footprints) are believed to be the imprints of four Buddhas of this current Kalpa (era), enshrined on an open rock platform covered by a unique mandapa (pavilion), serving as a central place of reverence for the Buddhist faithful.”

Phrabat Si Roi (Four Buddha Footprints) in Nakhon Nayok Province is an important historical and spiritual site. It is based on the belief that the four superimposed footprints belong to the Four Buddhas who have appeared in this current auspicious Kalpa, namely Phra Kakusantho, Phra Konagamano, Phra Kassapo, and Phra Samanakodom (the current Buddha). These footprints were discovered, and subsequently, a beautiful Mondop (a square pavilion with four porticos) was constructed over them on the open rock platform to serve as a place of worship and protection. The Mondop features graceful traditional Thai architecture, seamlessly blending belief and devotion. Visitors must ascend the Naga staircase to reach the site, which is itself another beautiful and interesting feature. The surrounding atmosphere is profoundly peaceful, making it suitable for meditation and Dhamma practice.

In addition to venerating the Buddha footprints, the temple grounds and the area around the Mondop offer splendid views, overlooking the panorama of Nakhon Nayok Province and the surrounding hills. The design of the temple and its landscape reflect the deep faith of its founders and caretakers. The large pagodas and statues of the Buddha, as well as the murals inside the Mondop, are all Buddhist artworks worthy of study and admiration. Buddhist devotees often travel here to seek blessings, make wishes, and perform merit-making, thereby preserving the ancient traditions and beliefs of Thailand.
