“A wildlife conservation center open to the public for learning about rescued and rehabilitated wildlife, as well as a starting point for a peaceful nature study trail.”
Khao Chong Wildlife Conservation and Development Station is located within the Khao Banthat Wildlife Sanctuary. Its main roles focus on Research, Rehabilitation, and Conservation of wildlife and plant species in southern Thailand. One of the station’s key missions is breeding and caring for endangered wildlife to prepare them for release back into their natural habitats.
The station is also developed as a learning center for the public, especially students and nature enthusiasts. Visitors can observe various rescued and rehabilitated wildlife species such as peafowl, hornbills, fishing cats, and other rare mammals. Educational displays emphasize biological knowledge and animal behavior to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. Visitors will gain insight into threats faced by wildlife and ongoing efforts to protect biodiversity within the Khao Banthat forest.
In addition, the station features a Waterfall and Nature Study Trail surrounded by lush greenery. The walking trails are not complex and are suitable for visitors who wish to explore the tropical rainforest ecosystem at a relaxed pace. Short hiking routes allow close observation of diverse plant species and forest ecology, making the area ideal for combining leisure with environmental education. The overall atmosphere is quiet and cool throughout the year due to dense forest coverage.
