“The largest waterfront recreational area in Takhli, featuring a well-paved jogging track encircling the reservoir, shaded by nature, and recognized as one of the most beautiful sunset viewpoints in the area.”

Sa Thale Public Park has long been closely connected to the lifestyle and daily life of the people of Takhli. At its heart lies “Sa Thale,” a large natural reservoir that holds water throughout the year and has historically served as an important water source for the local community.

Origin of the Name “Sa Thale”

The name “Sa Thale” originated from a former natural wetland that was extremely vast, leading local residents to compare it to the sea, calling it “Nong Thale” (Sea Marsh). Later, the surrounding community cooperated to improve the area by shaping the edges into a more structured, rectangular form to function as a water storage basin. From then on, it became known as “Sa Thale,” a name that remains today.

Development into a Public Park

Over time, the area surrounding the reservoir was developed into a fully equipped public park. A well-maintained asphalt road and jogging path circle the lake, making it ideal for walking, jogging, and cycling. Large trees line the route, providing ample shade, while cool breezes from the water create a comfortable atmosphere throughout the day.

Community and Cultural Hub

Beyond exercise and leisure, Sa Thale Public Park serves as an important community gathering space. It is a venue for major local events such as the Loy Krathong Festival and various recreational and cultural activities. Families often visit in the late afternoon to relax, enjoy the scenery, and feed the fish, reinforcing the park’s role as a shared space for all generations.

Thanks to its environmental, recreational, and social importance, Sa Thale Public Park is widely regarded as “the green lung of Takhli.”
