“A 2-in-1 eco–adventure where visitors can enjoy the rich mangrove ecosystem of Khlong Chorakhe Khao and paddle through stalactite-filled Tham Chao Mai Cave.”

Tham Chao Mai and Tham Chao Khun are among the most distinctive eco-tourism attractions in Kantang District, combining adventure, geology, and mangrove ecology. The journey begins with a boat ride through the lush mangrove forests along Khlong Chorakhe Khao, home to local wildlife such as fiddler crabs, shorebirds, macaques, and various aquatic animals—allowing visitors to experience nature up close from the very start.

The first stop is Tham Chao Mai, a water cave where visitors must enter using a canoe or a small long-tail boat. Inside, the cave is cool, mysterious, and decorated with naturally formed stalactitesandstalagmites that have developed over hundreds of years. Soft natural light filtering in from outside reveals the textures and patterns on the cave walls. Once paddling through the cave to the far side, visitors will emerge into a quiet, pristine mangrove area—often described as feeling like “another world”.

The trip continues to Tham Chao Khun, located on the slope of Khao To Nae. Visitors must disembark and take a short walk uphill to reach the entrance. Inside the dry cave are beautifully shaped stalactitesandstalagmites, some resembling curtains, statues, or natural sculptures. Evidence found within has led researchers to believe that the cave may have once been used as a shelter or dwelling by humans in the past, giving it both natural and historical significance.

Together, these two caves offer a well-rounded experience that blends light adventure, ecological discovery, and geological wonder—perfect for nature lovers or travelers seeking a peaceful, immersive activity that isn’t too strenuous.
