“A former central administrative hub featuring a court, deep pit prison, and weaving workshop, reflecting a self-reliant social system set within a lush mountain forest.”

The State Authority Office served as the “district office in the forest” and was the core administrative center of the Phu Hin Rong Kla stronghold during 1970–1982 (B.E. 2510–2525). It functioned as the governing hub of the Communist Party of Thailand (CPT), overseeing the daily lives and organization of members living deep within a politically tense forest environment.

Within this area, visitors can explore a unique and well-structured social system. Key features include the “people’s court”, used to settle disputes under party regulations; the weaving and tailoring workshops, which acted as small-scale production units for clothing and essential items; and the deep pit detention system, used to discipline those who violated strict internal rules. Despite being constructed from simple natural materials, the entire system was highly organized and self-sufficient.

Today, the site has been preserved as a historical learning area. Some structures have been reconstructed to help visitors better visualize life during that period. Surrounded by lush evergreen forest, the area remains peaceful, cool, and shaded year-round. A short nature trail connects the various points of interest, allowing visitors to experience both history and nature in one visit.

This destination is ideal for those interested in Thai political history, students, and travelers seeking deeper insight into life under ideological conflict. A visit here offers not only a glimpse into the past but also an opportunity to reflect on how such experiences have shaped modern society and peace.

If you are looking for a place that blends tranquil nature with profound historical significance, the State Authority Office is a must-visit spot within Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park.
