Doi Phu Nang National Park covers areas in Dok Kham Tai, Pong, and Chiang Muan districts, Phayao Province. It is part of the Phi Pan Nam mountain range, with high, rugged mountains and diverse forest ecosystems, including moist evergreen, mixed deciduous, and dry dipterocarp forests. The terrain and natural environment are ideal for hiking, nature study, and wildlife observation.
Tharn Sawan Waterfall:
A medium-sized limestone waterfall formed by the convergence of two streams, Huai Pong and Huai Un, with the Bo Bia spring flowing into Huai Mae Pang. The waterfall has multiple tiers and flows year-round. During the rainy season, the water volume increases, offering spectacular scenery. The trail to the waterfall is a shaded nature trail, perfect for birdwatching and plant observation.
Na Pang Waterfall:
A small to medium waterfall cascading down layered cliffs. Surrounded by trees and wildflowers, it is a popular spot for relaxation and photography.
Pha Tang Cave:
Approximately 800 meters long, featuring stalactites, stalagmites, ferns, and numerous small cavities. Ideal for visitors interested in geology and natural photography.
Fang Ta:
A site of soil erosion on a small hill, forming unique spire-like rock structures. Visitors can learn about geology and natural processes here.
Green Peafowl (Thai Peacock):
Doi Phu Nang is home to the last remaining northern Thai peafowl population, approximately 265 birds. Visitors often see peafowl foraging and displaying their plumage. Breeding season is from January to March, and the best visiting time is October–January for beautiful landscapes and wildlife viewing.

By private car:
- From Phayao city, take Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road) toward Chiang Muan District. At Chiang Muan town, turn toward Ban Mang subdistrict and follow signs to Doi Phu Nang National Park. Distance: approximately 40–50 km, travel time: 1–1.5 hours. Parking and visitor facilities are available at the park headquarters.
By public transport:
- From Phayao city, take a minibus or van heading to Chiang Muan. At Chiang Muan, hire a motorcycle taxi or taxi to the park, about 20–25 km away.
