Kiew Lom Dam is a curved concrete dam built across the Wang River. Although located within the boundaries of Tham Pha Thai National Park, it is managed by the Royal Irrigation Department. The dam plays an important role in irrigation and flood control. Situated about 38 kilometers from Lampang city along the Lampang–Ngao route, its location amid dramatic limestone mountain ranges creates breathtaking scenery, especially in the early morning when mist floats gently above the water—earning it the nickname “The Guilin of Thailand.”

Kiew Lom Lake and Surroundings:

Above the dam lies a vast reservoir known as Kiew Lom Lake, ideal for boating and rafting. The wide expanse of water is surrounded by lush forests and limestone cliffs, forming beautiful emerald reflections on the surface. The peaceful atmosphere and panoramic mountain views make it one of Lampang’s most scenic natural attractions.

Legendary Rafting Experience:

The highlight of visiting Kiew Lom Dam is the traditional rafting trip, which takes at least half a day. Visitors can choose from simple bamboo rafts for sightseeing or large motorized floating rafts equipped as mobile houses with food and facilities. Overnight stays on floating rafts allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature.

During the trip, rafts often stop at notable attractions such as Laem Chao Khuean, Koh Wang Kaew, Pha Ngam, Pha Kieng, Tham Sombat (Treasure Cave), Ban Sa Village, and various scenic points around the reservoir. Each location offers unique landscapes, towering cliffs, caves, and glimpses of local riverside life.

How to Get There

• By Private Car: From Lampang city, take Highway No. 1 (Lampang–Ngao Road) for approximately 38 kilometers. Turn left at Kilometer 623–624, then continue for about 14 kilometers on a paved road leading directly to the dam crest.
