“A mountain of significant archaeological value where both prehistoric and historic artifacts have been discovered.”
Khao Pina is located on the floodplain of the Trang River. It is a limestone mountain with a height_ of about 100 meters. Historically, the area is believed to have once been connected to the sea, as ancient ship anchors were discovered in the fields surrounding the mountain — evidence of the site’s historical importance.
The mountain is hollow inside all the way to the top and contains multiple levels of caves, which naturally feature beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.
At the base of the mountain stands KhaoPinaTemple, which is over 200 years old. The Fine Arts Department registered KhaoPinaCave as a historical site in 1996. Archaeological findings inside the cave include three-legged clay pots and stone tools, confirming that the site was inhabited by humans since prehistoric times.
The temple has built stairways for visitors to ascend to the caves, divided into six levels. Significant sacred elements include the RecliningBuddha near the entrance and a statue of KhunNaiNaPaya, a key historical figure associated with the temple’s founding.
