“The bay features soft white sand and clear, calm waters perfect for swimming and leisure. Ao Thung Makham Noi is home to Lomprayah Pier, a key transport hub connecting travelers to Koh Tao, Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan. Visitors can also experience the authentic fishing lifestyle and enjoy fresh seafood at local restaurants along the coast.”

Thung Makham Bay is one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches in Chumphon Province. It is distinguished by its fine white sandy beach stretching along the coast and lines of coconut trees that create a shady and relaxing atmosphere—perfect for sitting back, reading a book, or enjoying sea views in the early morning or evening.

The seawater at Thung Makham Bay is clean and clear, with gentle waves, making it suitable for swimming, sunbathing, and light water activities such as kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).

Thung Makham Bay is divided into Outer Thung Makham Bay and Inner Thung Makham Bay, both forming two consecutive semicircular bays. In between, a rocky cape composed of various large and small stones naturally separates the two bays.

  • Inner Thung Makham Bay lies to the north, featuring about 1 kilometer of white sandy beach lined with coconut trees.
  • Outer Thung Makham Bay lies south of the rocky cape and features approximately 3 kilometers of soft white sandy beach shaded by rows of coconut trees.

At the southern end of the bay is Wat Suwannakuha Wareewong (Wat Phong Pang), a peaceful and beautiful temple surrounded by coconut groves. Behind the temple lies a large cliff, about 30 meters wide and 80 meters long, facing the sea—another scenic viewpoint of the bay.

The area of Thung Makham Noi Bay is more vibrant because it hosts the Lomprayah Pier, the key marine transportation hub of Chumphon, providing convenient travel to Koh Tao, Koh Samui, and Koh Phangan.

Around the bay, there are accommodations, seafood restaurants, and beachfront cafés available to visitors. During certain times of the year, the “Lard Lay” seaside market is held, offering fresh seafood, local products, and souvenirs from Chumphon.
