“A public park featuring a prominent and shady monument of Somdet Ya, connected to Khao Ngern Cave, which contains inscriptions of King Rama V.”
Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park is a large public park of approximately 59 rai, established to honor Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani (Somdet Ya) on the occasion of her 80th birthday. The park is designed as a recreational space for the public and visitors while showcasing the royal benevolence of Somdet Ya.
Inside the park, the royal monument of Somdet Ya stands prominently as the central point for visitors to pay respects and remember her. The surrounding area is decorated with trees and ornamental plants, creating a shaded environment suitable for walking, exercising, or relaxing by the Lang Suan River.
Another highlight of the park is its connection to Khao Ngern Cave, a limestone hill with historical significance. Inside the cave, the abbreviated royal monogram “Chor Por Ror (จปร.)” of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) is inscribed, dating back to his visit to Malaya in 1889. This makes Khao Ngern Cave both a natural tourist attraction and a valuable historical learning site.
Visitors to Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park can experience the peace, shade, and natural beauty, explore history at Khao Ngern Cave, learn about the past, and appreciate the landscape architecture of the park. There is also an exercise area and photogenic spots for visitors to enjoy.
The park combines the beauty of nature, the tranquility of a public park, and historical value, making every visit both a recreational and educational experience.
