“A wellness destination that health enthusiasts should not miss, featuring natural hot mineral water at 55–56 degrees Celsius, believed to have therapeutic benefits and help relieve certain skin conditions.”
Khao Phlu Hot Spring is located on an area of about 300 rai at the foothill of Khao Phlu Mountain in Suan Taeng Subdistrict, Lamae District, Chumphon Province. The mountain is composed of rich limestone formations and lush forest, including wild betel plants (Piper betle Linn.), which is the origin of the name “Khao Phlu.” The hot spring here is natural hot mineral water that emerges from the ground, maintaining a stable temperature of 55–56 degrees Celsius — ideal for mineral properties and therapeutic use.
The hot mineral water is believed to offer health benefits, particularly in relieving certain skin conditions and stimulating blood circulation, helping the body feel relaxed and alleviating fatigue.
The site has been developed to support wellness tourism activities and features three main hot spring pools with harmonized names: Auearee Tharntip, Amarithara, and Pruksa Chonthara. It also includes several facilities such as:
-
Private mineral bath rooms: For visitors who prefer privacy
-
Public soaking pools: For foot soaking or full-body soaking in an onsen-style setting
-
Herbal steam rooms: For health-oriented steam therapy
-
Traditional Thai massage services: For muscle relaxation
-
Nature walking trails: Short walking paths within the area
The hot spring is also located near Khao Phlu Cave, which features beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, and Wat Tham Khao Kriab, a meditation site with about 370 steps leading up to a Buddha image inside the cave.
How to Get There
- By private car: Take Highway No. 41 heading south toward Lamae District. Once you reach Lamae, continue until you reach Phetkasem Road (at kilometer marker 92). Look for the signs, then turn left onto Khao Phlu Cave–Ban Duat Road and continue for about 500–700 meters to reach the entrance of Khao Phlu Hot Spring.
- By public transport: Take a southern bus route and get off at Lamae District or near the intersection leading to the hot spring. From the drop-off point, take a motorcycle taxi or local transport to Khao Phlu Hot Spring, located approximately 300 meters from the Lamae District Office.
