“Featuring over 200 Naga-themed steps leading to the summit to worship the replica Buddha footprint and the Mondop housing Luang Phor Dhammachak, a revered local Buddha image.”

Khao Khuen Trmple, commonly known by locals as Wat Khao Nang Buat, is an ancient temple of great historical, religious, and cultural significance. It is located on the summit of Khao Nang Buat in Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphan Buri Province. The temple has been mentioned in historical accounts since the Ayutthaya period and is closely associated with Phra Ajarn Thammachoti, a renowned monk famous for his spiritual power and bravery during times of war. As a result, Khao Khuen Trmple has long served as a spiritual center and a symbol of faith and courage for the people of Suphan Buri across generations.

One of the temple’s most distinctive features is the ascent to the summit via a long Naga staircase consisting of more than 249 steps, symbolizing a test of both physical strength and spiritual determination. The path is shaded by lush trees on both sides, creating a calm and sacred atmosphere. At the top of the hill stands the Mondop housing a sacred replica of the Buddha’s footprint, as well as Luang Pho Thammachak, a sandstone Buddha image in the posture of setting the Wheel of Dhamma, crafted in the U Thong artistic style. The Buddha image is admired for its gentle and graceful features that convey deep compassion.

The atmosphere on the summit of Khao Nang Buat is peaceful and imbued with a living sense of history. It is an ideal place for meditation, spiritual practice, and quiet reflection. The gentle mountain breeze combined with the expansive views helps visitors release daily stress and find inner calm and clarity.

Beyond its religious importance, Khao Khuen Trmple is also regarded as one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Suphan Buri. From the temple courtyard at the summit, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Tha Chin River plain, surrounding villages, and rice fields that change color with the seasons. The cool air and natural surroundings make the site a popular retreat for both locals and travelers.

For photographers and family travelers, the temple offers many memorable photo spots, including the majestic Naga staircase, traditional Thai architecture harmoniously blended with nature, and sweeping aerial views of Doem Bang Nang Buat District. Khao Khuen Trmple is therefore often included in religious pilgrimage routes within Suphan Buri Province, as it provides a complete experience of merit-making, historical learning, and nature appreciation in one destination.

Visitors are warmly invited to test their faith by walking up to the summit of Khao Nang Buat, to pay respect to the sacred sites, make wishes, and absorb the tranquil energy of nature at Khao Khuen Trmple—a place where faith, history, and the natural beauty of Suphan Buri come together in perfect harmony.
