“Pay homage to the replica Buddha's footprint inside a large bell-shaped pagoda built as a monument to gratitude for mothers.”

The Mother’s Gratitude Chedi stands gracefully within Wat Khlong Mai, Wihan Daeng District, Saraburi Province. The chedi features an inverted bell-shaped design, similar to Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom Province but on a smaller scale. Rising to a height_ of approximately 30 meters, the white structure symbolizes purity, serenity, and faith, standing in contrast to the lush green surroundings of agricultural land and irrigation canals. The primary purpose of this sacred site is to provide an opportunity for sons and daughters to express gratitude and filial devotion, honoring the immeasurable kindness of their mothers, who gave birth to and nurtured their lives.

The interior of the chedi is carefully and elegantly designed. At its center enshrines a replica of the Buddha’s footprint, placed upon a blooming lotus pedestal that symbolizes purity and enlightenment. Surrounding it are seven Buddha images representing the days of the week, allowing visitors to pay respect according to their birth day and to seek blessings for good fortune and well-being. At the top of the chedi enshrines Phra Ketu, believed to be a celestial guardian who protects all people regardless of their birth day, creating a sense of safety and spiritual reassurance for worshippers.

The atmosphere around Phra Khun Mae Chedi is peaceful, shady, and deeply relaxing. Located near irrigation canals and community farmland, the area enjoys a constant gentle breeze, making it ideal for walking, meditation, and merit-making. Nearby, there is also a natural lotus pond where lotus flowers grow freely in the canal, enhancing the freshness and beauty of the surroundings while reflecting the simple and harmonious way of life of the local community.

For photographers and visitors who appreciate religious architecture, the chedi offers many beautiful photographic angles, including views of the white chedi against the sky, reflections on the water’s surface, and wide-angle shots that highlight the structure’s elegance within a natural setting. In addition, families often visit together to make merit and reaffirm the bond of love and gratitude between mothers and their children at this meaningful site.

Phra Khun Mae Chedi is therefore more than just a religious attraction; it is a symbol of love, gratitude, and family devotion. Visitors are warmly invited to experience the serenity and emotional depth of this sacred place, to reflect upon the boundless kindness of mothers, and to enrich their lives with spiritual merit and inner strength.
