“Admire the beauty of temperate flowers blooming year-round, take photos with the Continuity sculpture, and experience the fresh air in this world-class award-winning garden.”
Mae Fah Luang Garden is a temperate flower garden situated on approximately 25 rai of land directly in front of the Doi Tung Royal Villa. Originally, this area was a village and a transit point for opium caravans. However, through the perseverance of the Princess Mother, the area was transformed into a beautiful botanical garden so that Thai people could enjoy temperate flowers without traveling abroad. The garden decorations change with each season, providing visitors with a unique and beautiful experience every time they visit.
The Continuity Sculpture is a major symbol standing prominently in the middle of Mae Fah Luang Garden. This artwork depicts children joined together in a human chain reaching into the air, symbolizing the concept that "work must be done continuously to achieve success," according to the Princess Mother's vision. This is a must-stop photo spot for all tourists because, in addition to its deep meaning, the background features vibrant flower fields terraced along the mountainside.
Plant Varieties and Landscaping The garden collects various species of temperate flowers and ornamental plants, such as Salvia, Petunias, and Begonias, with highlights being the Rhododendrons and Lady’s Slipper orchids. The flower arrangements emphasize harmony with the hilly terrain, featuring winding paths through the flower beds interspersed with wide lawns. Climbing plant tunnels provide shade along the walkways, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty throughout the garden comfortably.
The Rock Garden and Fountain Corners In addition to the flower beds, the garden includes a rock garden featuring uniquely shaped stones and various succulents. Fountains provide a refreshing and relaxing sound throughout the walk. There is also an orchid house showcasing rare species for botanists and enthusiasts to study closely, making Mae Fah Luang Garden not just a place for relaxation but also an important botanical learning center.
Scenery and Atmosphere Since the garden is located on a high mountain, the weather is cool and pleasant all year round. Especially during winter, a light mist often covers the trees and flowers, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. The surrounding views showcase the complex mountain ranges encircling Doi Tung, reflecting the success of restoring the forest to become one of the most abundant and beautiful places in Thailand.
