“Experience year-round cold weather and sea of mist at Chong Yen, conquer the challenging peak of Mokochu, and relax by the river at Kaeng Ko Yai and the peaceful Mae Rewa Ranger Station in the Nakhon Sawan zone.”
Mae Wong National Park is a vital watershed forest of the Mae Wong River, spanning across Kamphaeng Phet and Nakhon Sawan provinces. It is renowned for its outstanding natural richness and ecological diversity.
Chong Yen Zone (Cold-Weather Landmark)
Located at Kilometer 93, this is the highest point of the Khlong Lan–Umphang Road. Chong Yen remains cool throughout the year, even in summer, and is a popular spot for sunrise views, birdwatching, and nature study trails.
Mokochu Peak (Ultimate Trekking Destination)
The highest peak in the park at 1,964 meters above sea level, Mokochu is famous for its iconic “Sailboat Rock.” Reaching the summit requires a multi-day trek and advance booking, with access usually permitted between November and February.
Mae Rewa & Kaeng Ko Yai Zone (Nakhon Sawan Area)
A scenic lowland river zone ideal for swimming, riverside camping, and relaxation. The area features large trees, rock formations, and adventure activities such as Mae Rewa rafting, making it suitable for families and nature lovers.
Biodiversity
The park is home to rare wildlife including Indochinese tigers, hornbills, and the spiny-tailed frog, a symbolic species of Chong Yen, reflecting the exceptional integrity of this western forest ecosystem.
