Samrong Kiat Waterfall is located within the Phanom Dong Rak Wildlife Sanctuary in Ban Samrong Kiat, Bak Dong Subdistrict, Khun Han District, Sisaket Province. It is one of the most famous and popular waterfalls in Southern Isan, known for its streams flowing across a wide rocky terrace before cascading down an approximately 8-meter-high sandstone cliff, surrounded by lush and shady natural forest throughout the year.Originally, the waterfall was called “Pisat Waterfall” (Devil Waterfall), a name derived from the ranger unit once stationed in the Thai–Cambodian border area nearby. Later, the name was changed to “Samrong Kiat Waterfall” to match the local village name and better support nature tourism promotion in Sisaket Province.The waterfall originates from streams flowing down the Phanom Dong Rak mountain range, an important mountain range in northeastern Thailand. As a result, the surrounding area is highly fertile and covered with dry evergreen forest and diverse plant species. The atmosphere is cool and refreshing, especially during the rainy season and early winter when the forest becomes lush green and the water is abundant and crystal clear, making it ideal for relaxation, swimming, and nature photography.

One of the waterfall’s main highlights is the large natural rock terrace above the falls, where water flows beautifully across the surface. Visitors can relax, enjoy picnics, or safely play in the shallow streams in several areas. Large trees surrounding the waterfall provide plenty of shade, allowing visitors to comfortably spend the entire day in nature.Below the waterfall lies a natural pool and large rock formations, creating a peaceful atmosphere for sightseeing and relaxation. During periods of strong water flow, the waterfall forms a beautiful curtain of water stretching across the cliff, becoming a favorite photography spot for tourists and nature photographers.The area has been developed with convenient facilities including nature trails, rest pavilions, restrooms, and parking areas. The best time to visit is from September to February, when the waterfall has the highest water volume and the surrounding nature is at its most beautiful and refreshing. During the summer months, the water level may decrease slightly, but visitors can still enjoy swimming and relaxing by the stream.From Sisaket city, visitors can travel via Highway No. 2111 toward Khun Han District, then continue on Highway No. 2127 to Ban Samrong Kiat. The total distance is approximately 80 kilometers. The road is fully paved and accessible for all vehicle types, with clear signs leading to the waterfall entrance.Today, Samrong Kiat Waterfall is considered one of Sisaket Province’s most important natural attractions, combining the beauty of flowing water, lush forest landscapes, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking a close connection with nature.

How to Get There

• By Car: From Sisaket city, take Highway No. 2111 toward Khun Han District. Upon reaching Khun Han town, continue on Highway No. 2127 (Khun Han – Samrong Kiat route) for approximately 20 kilometers. Clear directional signs to the waterfall are available along the entire route.
