“Famous twin limestone cliffs by the river with caves accessible by longtail boat.”
Khao Khanap Nam is regarded as the symbol of Krabi, consisting of two limestone hills rising approximately 100 meters high on either side of the Krabi River. These towering formations frame a natural gateway to Krabi Town, creating one of the most recognizable landscapes in southern Thailand.
The cliffs are not just scenic landmarks but also hold historical and geological significance. A short stairway leads visitors into a massive cave hidden inside one of the hills, where spectacular stalagmites and stalactites decorate the chambers. Archaeological evidence, including ancient human skeletons, has been uncovered within—suggesting this site once served as shelter for early inhabitants who may have perished due to sudden flooding.
Surrounded by lush mangrove forests and the gentle curves of the Krabi River, Khao Khanap Nam offers a peaceful, nature-rich experience. Visitors often pair their trip with a visit to Ko Klang’s fishery village and the mangrove ecosystem, learning about local livelihoods and traditional longtail boat craftsmanship.
Khao Khanap Nam is a perfect spot for photography, especially for those with drones capturing the river winding between these dramatic limestone towers.
How to Get There
