“Shrine of Luang Pu Thong Susangwaro in a glass coffin with an incorrupt body, large Guan Yin pavilion, ordination hall with Buddhist mural paintings, and sacred deities including Ganesha and Guan Yu.”

Wat Pa Kosuwannaram in Na Mom District, Songkhla Province, is a temple of great local historical and religious significance. Originally, the area began as a small forest monastery established through the intention of Luang Pu Thong Susangwaro, a highly revered Buddhist monk known for his strict meditation practice. He used this place as his residence during the rains retreat, for meditation practice, and for teaching Buddhist principles to his disciples in southern Thailand as well as neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore. It is also believed that he had a spiritual connection with Luang Pu Thuat, which further strengthens the faith and devotion of many pilgrims who visit the temple.

After Luang Pu Thong passed away in 2000, a remarkable phenomenon drew widespread attention: his body remained incorrupt and preserved in a condition close to its original state. It was later placed inside a glass shrine (mandapa), becoming the spiritual center of the temple. This event has made the temple an important pilgrimage site, attracting devotees continuously throughout the year, especially during major Buddhist holy days.

Inside the temple, there are various artistic and religious structures of great beauty and cultural value, including the ordination hall decorated with mural paintings depicting the life of the Buddha and reflections of traditional Thai society. There is also a large Guan Yin pavilion representing Mahayana Buddhist devotion, as well as other sacred figures such as Ganesha and Guan Yu. These elements reflect the harmonious blending of different religious beliefs and cultural traditions in southern Thailand.

The surrounding atmosphere of the temple is peaceful and natural, making it suitable for meditation, mindfulness practice, and relaxation from daily life stress. Wat Pa Kosuwannaram is therefore not only a religious tourist attraction but also a spiritual center for those seeking inner peace and true Buddhist faith.
