“Traditional peaceful island offering ultimate relaxation, stunning sunsets, and authentic local lifestyles. Features pristine private beaches and lush nature, perfect for slow-life travelers seeking tranquility.”

Koh Jum, also known as Koh Pu in its northern mountainous region, is located in the Koh Sriboya sub-district of Nuea Khlong, Krabi. The island is uniquely characterized by a harmonious blend of cultures, where Thai Buddhists, Thai Muslims, and the chao ley (Sea Gypsies) have coexisted peacefully for generations. Geographically, the island offers a fascinating contrast; the northern part is dominated by rugged terrain and lush rainforests, home to "Mount Pu", the island's highest peak at approximately 400 meters above sea level. Adventurous travelers often trek to the summit to witness a breathtaking panoramic view that stretches across the Andaman Sea to the Phi Phi Islands.

The central and southern parts of the island consist mainly of flatlands where the three primary villages are situated: Ban Koh Pu, Ban Koh Jum, and Ban Mutu. The local economy remains deeply rooted in traditional artisanal fishing and rubber plantations. Because modern development has been kept at a sustainable pace, the island lacks major concrete highways and bustling traffic. This lack of urbanization preserves a serene atmosphere, free from the noise of motorized vehicles, making Koh Jum a perfect sanctuary for those seeking to disconnect and immerse themselves in raw nature.

The island’s picturesque beaches are primarily located on the western coast, starting with Lubo Beach in the north, characterized by rocky outcrops and secluded sands. Moving south, Ting Rai Beach features eco-friendly resorts tucked into the hillsides and jungle edges, leading down to the long, golden sands of Koh Jum Beach. The surrounding waters are pristine and serve as a fertile breeding ground for blue swimming crabs, which gave the northern village its name, Koh Pu (Crab Island). Popular activities include renting a motorbike to navigate the unpaved paths through rubber groves, interacting with the incredibly friendly locals, and experiencing one of the most spectacular sunsets in the entire Krabi province.

How to Get There
  • Take a longtail boat from "Laem Kruat Pier" in Nuea Khlong District (approx. 45-60 minutes). Alternatively, ferries traveling between Krabi Town and Koh Lanta pass by the island; you can be dropped off mid-sea and transfer to a local longtail boat to reach the shore.

Travel Tips
  • Renting a motorbike is ideal, but drive carefully on unpaved and gravel roads.

  • Double-check boat schedules from Laem Kruat Pier as they vary depending on weather conditions.

  • Book accommodation on the west coast if you want to enjoy sunset views from your room.

  • Bring insect repellent since much of the island is covered in lush jungle and rubber plantations.
