“An H-shaped island standout for its fine white sand connecting two sides and a nature trail that reveals high-angle views of the deep indigo sea”
Koh Kham Island also known as Koh Kham Underwater Park, is a small island located west of Koh Samaesarn in Chonburi Province. The island is under the supervision of the Royal Thai Navy’s Fleet Operations Command, which places strong emphasis on environmentally responsible tourism alongside strict natural resource conservation. As a result, Koh Kham has preserved its pristine environment and remains rich in natural beauty.A distinctive feature of Koh Kham is its unique shape, resembling the letter “H.” The island features two white sandy beaches connected by a natural sandbar. The surrounding sea is remarkably clear, allowing visitors to see rocks and coral reefs beneath the water directly from the shoreline. This creates a peaceful and visually stunning atmosphere, making the island an ideal destination for true relaxatio
What truly sets Koh Kham apart is its rich marine ecosystem. The waters surrounding the island have been designated as an underwater park to protect various coral species, including staghorn coral, table coral, and brain coral, as well as sea anemones that serve as habitats for numerous species of clownfish. This makes Koh Kham both a natural learning site and a popular destination for snorkeling enthusiasts. Another iconic feature of the island is the wooden coastal walkway, which stretches along the rocky shoreline. This walkway serves as both a scenic walking path and a favorite photography spot, designed to allow visitors to enjoy the seaside views without disturbing the natural ecosystem
The atmosphere on Koh Kham is private and tranquil due to the limitation on the number of visitors allowed each day. Popular activities include snorkeling, kayaking, and glass-bottom boat tours for those who prefer not to enter the water. All activities are carefully managed under the concept of responsible and sustainable tourism. In addition, the island offers many scenic photo spots, such as the wooden bridge, white sandy beaches, natural rock formations, and a small hilltop viewpoint that requires only a short walk but rewards visitors with a beautiful panoramic view of the island. Koh Kham is suitable for general travelers, couples, and families seeking a peaceful nature-based getaway
Beyond being a leisure destination, Koh Kham serves as a marine learning center where youth and interested visitors can study coral cultivation and coastal conservation firsthand. The simplicity of the island, devoid of luxury facilities or large buildings, reflects a strong commitment to preserving the original charm of the Eastern Sea. Taking a moment to stand still and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks amidst the fresh air can wonderfully recharge one's energy. It is a destination that truly welcomes everyone with the smiles of Navy officials and the clarity of the water. We invite you to be part of this creative tourism to pass on the abundance of the undersea world to future generations.
