The site was established to honor Thao Nuhak Phoumsavan, a former President of Laos, whose birthplace is Ban Paluka in Mukdahan Province, Thailand. He played a significant role in Lao modern political history.Thao Nuhak Phoumsavan was one of the founding leaders of the Lao revolutionary movement and played an important role in shaping the country’s political foundation after the Indochina War era. He later served as the President of Laos from 1992 to 1998, during which he contributed to political stability and supported national development during the country’s transition toward modernization.

Ban Paluka, his birthplace, is located in Chanot Subdistrict, Wan Yai District, Mukdahan Province. It is an old riverside community along the Mekong River where Lao and Isan cultures are deeply blended. In the past, cross-border interaction was common, allowing people on both sides of the river to maintain close kinship and cultural ties. This historical context explains why many important Lao figures have ancestral roots in present-day Thailand.Inside the museum, exhibitions are arranged in a chronological narrative, beginning with Thao Nuhak’s early life and continuing through his political journey and national leadership. • By car: From Mukdahan city, take Highway 212 (Mukdahan–That Phanom) heading toward Wan Yai District. Then turn right onto Rural Road 3004 toward Ban Paluka, Chanot Subdistrict. The museum is located near Wat Mano Phirom.

• It is recommended to visit nearby Wat Mano Phirom, a historic temple close to the museum, to experience the local riverside community atmosphere.
