“An ancient historic site that remains structurally complete and architecturally beautiful, situated on a small hill by the sea, offering clear views of the estuary and Laem Sing cape.”

Fort Pairee Pinat is a gun fortress constructed according to the royal initiative of King Rama III (Phra Bat Somdet Phra Nangklao Chao Yu Hua). It covers an area of 9,500 rai (1,520 hectares) and was overseen by Phraya Aphai Phiphit (Kratai), the Governor of Chanthaburi, who served as the chief construction engineer in 1834 (B.E. 2377). It was built to prepare for potential Vietnamese attacks coming by sea. It was originally unnamed. Later, in 1857 (B.E. 2400), when King Mongkut (Phra Bat Somdet Phra Chom Klao Chao Yu Hua, Rama IV) visited the Chanthaburi region, he bestowed the name "Fort Pairee Pinat" upon it. It stood paired with Fort Phikhat KhSuek (Fort Phikhat Patchamit), which is now overlaid by the Red Building.

Although this fort held great strategic importance in the past, it was once abandoned for a period before being well-restored and maintained by the Fine Arts Department. As a result, Fort Pairee Pinat currently retains its complete and beautiful condition in terms of ancient fortress architecture

Visitors can walk up to view the fort itself, the remains of the cannons, and enjoy the magnificent view of the Chanthaburi river mouth and Laem Sing from an elevated perspective. Therefore, this is not only a historical site but also one of the beautiful viewpoints of the province.
