Mae Sa Snake Farm (Mae Sa Snake Farm), sometimes referred to by visitors as Mae Rim Snake Farm, is an educational attraction focused on snakes and reptiles along the Mae Rim–Samoeng route in Chiang Mai. Located within one of Mae Rim’s important tourism areas, it is suitable for visitors seeking an unusual activity combined with learning about nature, animal behavior, and ways to coexist safely with snakes.

Inside the farm is a collection of many snake species found in Thailand, including non-venomous snakes such as rat snakes, pythons, and reticulated pythons, as well as venomous species important for education and awareness, including king cobras, cobras, and green pit vipers. Visitors can walk through reptile display enclosures to observe differences in body shape, patterns, colors, movement, and behavior among the various snake species at close range.

Mae Sa Snake Farm also plays a role in sharing basic knowledge about snakes, helping reduce the common misunderstanding that all snakes are dangerous. Each snake species has a different role in the ecosystem, and many species help control populations of rats and other small animals in nature. Learning to distinguish venomous from non-venomous snakes is therefore useful for people living near agricultural areas or forests, as well as for those who enjoy hiking and nature travel.

The main highlight is the show demonstrating the bond between people and snakes, featuring snake-handling skills by experienced trainers. The performance includes handling venomous snakes, catching snakes with bare hands, and holding snakes with the mouth, creating an exciting experience for visitors—especially during demonstrations involving king cobras and other venomous species. The presenter provides accompanying information about snake behavior, defensive actions, and precautions to take when encountering snakes in real life.

Another popular activity is the snake venom extraction demonstration, explaining the process of collecting snake venom for use in antivenom production. Visitors can learn about the importance of identifying the snake species and receiving proper treatment after a snakebite. Basic first-aid guidance includes remaining as still as possible, minimizing movement of the bitten limb, removing jewelry or tight items, and going to a hospital promptly. Do not cut the wound, suck out venom, apply ice, or use an overly tight tourniquet.

In addition to stage performances, the farm has fun activity areas such as the python wrestling water pool and photo opportunities with large non-venomous pythons under the close supervision of trainers. These activities allow visitors to experience the size, weight, and texture of snakes safely, making them popular among families, older children, students, and groups of friends.

The surrounding atmosphere is shady and suitable for a stop during a journey along the Mae Rim–Samoeng Road. Visitors should allow at least approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to watch the show, explore the display enclosures, and join photo activities. Showtimes may be scheduled several times per day, so visitors should ask staff for the latest schedule upon arrival.

• By Private Car: From Chiang Mai city, take Highway No. 107 (Chiang Mai–Fang Road) toward Mae Rim District. At the Samoeng intersection, turn left onto Mae Rim–Samoeng Road (Highway No. 1096). Continue for approximately 3 kilometers; the snake farm is located along the roadside, with clear signs and a spacious parking area.

• By Public Transportation: Visitors can take a red songthaew from the city to the Mae Rim transport queue, then transfer to a yellow songthaew on the Mae Rim–Samoeng route. Alternatively, vans or hired tour vehicles are convenient options, as the farm is located on Mae Rim’s main tourism route.

• Check showtimes: Each snake show lasts approximately 30 minutes. Ask staff at the ticket counter for the show schedule upon arrival so that you can watch from the beginning.

• Take photos with snakes: After the show, visitors can take photos with large non-venomous pythons under the close supervision of trainers.

• Prepare cash for tips: Visitors who wish to support the staff and performers may give tips or small gratuities at their discretion.

• Follow staff instructions: Do not touch snakes or reptiles without permission, and remain within designated areas throughout the visit.

• Plan a continuing trip: The farm is ideal as an exciting stop before continuing to Mae Sa Waterfall, Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, or other attractions along the Mae Rim–Samoeng route.
