“A renowned contemporary art museum, featuring a striking, futuristic mirrored building. It exhibits works by Thai and international artists, along with international-standard quality exhibitions.”

MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum opened in 2016, founded by the Bunnag and Burdeley families to showcase a contemporary art collection amassed over 30 years, as well as to support art education and provide opportunities for Thai artists to exhibit their work to the public and on an international stage.

The museum's architecture was designed by renovating an old industrial warehouse into a unique contemporary museum. Its exterior walls are adorned with thousands of small mirrored tiles, reflecting the sky, trees, and surrounding environment, changing with the time of day, making it one of Chiang Mai's most distinctive architectural landmarks.

Inside, the museum is divided into permanent and rotating exhibition areas, featuring works by leading Thai and international artists in various forms, including painting, sculpture, installation art, video art, photography, and mixed media. Exhibitions are regularly changed, providing visitors with a new experience every time they visit.

Additionally, there is an art book shop, souvenir shop, cafe, and activity space for talks, workshops, and cultural art activities. It is not just a museum for viewing art, but also a popular contemporary art learning center in the North, enjoyed by both Thais and international tourists.

With its blend of outstanding architecture, international-standard art collection, and the peaceful ambiance of San Kamphaeng District, MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum is one of the must-visit art destinations when traveling to Chiang Mai Province.
