“The largest wind turbine field in Thailand is a major source of wind power generation in the country and a landmark for taking photos with the scenery of wind turbines lined up amidst mountains and the vast sky.”

Huay Bong Wind Farm is the largest wind energy project area in Thailand. Located in Theparak District. Nakhon Ratchasima Province This area used to be a farming area for corn, cassava, and sugarcane. It was developed as a source of electricity generation from wind energy to be fed into the system of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). This project is considered an important step forward for the country in using renewable energy. There are more than 90 wind turbines installed, covering several sub-districts. Spreading over 40,000 rai of land, it is a rare sight in the landscape of Thailand.

Visiting a wind farm isn't just about admiring the grandeur of its energy architecture. But it is also an ecotourism experience that promotes understanding of clean energy. The turbine's mast is about 100 meters high, and the blades are more than 40 meters long. Together they look majestic. The operation of these wind turbines is quiet and stable. It relies on the force of the wind that blows through the high plateau and hillside areas of Thepharak District and nearby areas. This is considered a location with high potential for wind energy.

This project has created change for the community in many ways. In addition to income from renting space to farmers, some areas have also been developed into activity areas and public viewing points. To welcome tourists who want to experience an atmosphere similar to being abroad. Walking through windmill fields in winter (around November to January) is also the most special time. Because the weather is cool and the surrounding area is suitable, the project often involves planting sunflower fields or other types of flowering plants to increase beauty. It attracts many people to come and take photos.

The main tourist activity is a scenic drive along the road that passes through the wind farms. and stopping to take photos with the turbines at easily accessible angles. Some spots have bicycle rental services. or a small tour bus to explore the wider area. Seeing windmills slowly rotating but powerful under the open sky and clean air is an impressive experience and allows visitors to relax from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Huai Bong Wind Turbine Field is both a national power plant and an important natural technological tourist attraction of the Northeast.
