“A learning center for New Theory agriculture under the royal initiative, featuring demonstration plots of chemical-free vegetables and fruits, natural livestock and fish farming, and a farm shop offering fresh products such as eggs and local vegetables at affordable prices.”
The Mae Tam Royal Initiative Model Farm Project was established under the royal initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The project aims to create employment opportunities and provide an agricultural learning center for local villagers who once faced shortages of farmland and water resources. The area has been transformed from degraded land into a productive integrated farm that supports sustainable livelihoods for the surrounding communities.
Agricultural Diversity and Natural Balance
The farm area is carefully organized into several agricultural zones. Visitors can see vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, mushroom cultivation areas, livestock farms, and fish ponds. Local chickens are raised using natural methods, while crops are grown using organic fertilizers and environmentally friendly techniques. These practices ensure that the farm’s produce is fresh, safe, and free from harmful chemicals.
More Than a Farm: An Outdoor Classroom
Beyond agricultural production, the farm also functions as a learning center for the New Theory of agriculture and the Sufficiency Economy philosophy. Farmers, students, and visitors from across Thailand come here to study practical farming techniques and sustainable resource management.
Surrounded by the mountains of Soem Ngam district, the farm offers a peaceful and refreshing environment. Visitors can observe real farming activities, learn about sustainable agriculture, and purchase fresh products such as organic vegetables, fresh eggs, and locally processed goods as souvenirs from the community.
