Wat Laem Pho, also known as Wat Phra Non Laem Pho, is a historic temple dating back to the early Rattanakosin period (around 1794). Located on Koh Yor at the foot of Tinsulanonda Bridge, a key route connecting Songkhla town to the island, the temple has long served as both a spiritual center for the local community and a convenient stop for travelers. Its most remarkable feature is the massive golden reclining Buddha in the “Subduing Asurindra Rahu” posture, adorned with intricate glass mosaics that shimmer brilliantly in the sunlight—especially in the late afternoon when the statue glows with striking beauty. It is considered one of the largest and most renowned reclining Buddhas in Southern Thailand, admired for both its artistic elegance and spiritual significance.

The temple also showcases architectural elements from the King Rama III era, particularly the historic ordination hall with elaborately decorated gables featuring Hindu-influenced deities such as Indra riding Erawan and Vishnu riding Garuda, reflecting a harmonious blend of Buddhist and Brahmanical beliefs. Within the grounds, visitors will also find various sacred structures including a Brahma shrine, a Guanyin shrine, and multiple Buddha images such as the “Open World” posture, highlighting the diversity of faith among worshippers and visitors.

Set along the shores of Songkhla Lake, the largest natural lagoon in Thailand, the temple offers an open and tranquil atmosphere with sweeping views of the water and the long bridge stretching across it.
