“One of the most beautiful places in Southern Thailand to watch the sunrise and the sea of mist. On clear days, visitors can see views stretching all the way to the Andaman Sea and the Trang archipelago.”
Wang Pha Mek Viewpoint is located within the Sai Khuan and Ai Kling National Reserved Forests. It is one of Trang’s most popular nature-based and adventure attractions. The site is especially famous for its morning sea of mist, which covers the valleys below almost year-round, and becomes particularly impressive during the late rainy season and early winter months.
Geographically, Wang Pha Mek sits on a high mountain ridge, providing visitors with a 360-degree panoramic view. The scenery includes layers of mountain ranges stretching into the distance, and on days when the sky is clear, visitors can even see the Andaman Sea, Pak Meng Beach, and major islands in Trang Province from the summit.
At the base of the mountain, several facilities have been developed for travelers, including the Wang Pha Mek Adventure Dinosaur Park, featuring dinosaur and wildlife sculptures, making it an enjoyable spot for families and photography. Additionally, there are facilities for those wishing to stay overnight, such as camping areas, rest stops, small food stalls, and waiting zones for hikers preparing for the climb.
Along the hiking trail, visitors can enjoy lush forest surroundings, fresh mountain air, and the natural soundscape, making the ascent both challenging and rewarding. Upon reaching the top, hikers are greeted by cool, refreshing air and the mesmerizing movement of the sea of mist, which flows gently across the valley below like a massive white blanket—creating one of the most iconic sunrise scenes in Trang.
How to Get There
- By private car: Wang Pha Mek is located about 37–40 km from Trang City. Take the main road toward Wang Wiset District.
To reach the viewpoint itself, visitors must hike from the base, following a path that alternates between stairs and natural dirt trails. The hike is steep and typically takes 30–60 minutes depending on fitness levels.
- By public transport: There is no direct public transportation to the viewpoint. Visitors must first travel to Wang Wiset District, then hire a local transport service to reach the mountain base.
