Wat Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Prao, commonly called “Wat Phu Prao” or the “Glow-in-the-Dark Temple,” is located on Phu Prao Hill in Sirindhorn District, about 70 kilometers from Ubon Ratchathani city. It was established in 1999 by Phra Kru Panyaworakun with the purpose of creating a place for meditation and the propagation of Buddhism.

The ordination hall is built in a blend of Lan Xang and contemporary Thai architectural styles, with layered gable roofs curving gracefully. It faces west, making it one of the best places to witness breathtaking sunsets over the Mekong River and the Lao border.

The temple is renowned for its glowing Tree of Life mural painted on the back of the ordination hall. Made with special luminous paint, the mural absorbs sunlight during the day and emits a glowing emerald light after dark, particularly on moonless nights. This mystical glow has made it one of the most iconic Unseen Thailand attractions.

Surrounding the ordination hall are additional glowing artworks of vines, flowers, and symbolic patterns that appear radiant when illuminated, creating a magical nighttime atmosphere.

Inside the ordination hall, a revered principal Buddha image is enshrined for worship. The temple grounds also include meditation pavilions, chedis, and peaceful resting areas, making the site a spiritual retreat as well as a major cultural landmark.

The environment is tranquil and shaded by nature, suitable for meditation and relaxation. Visitors often come in the late afternoon to enjoy the scenic sunset before staying on to admire the glowing Tree of Life as night falls.
