“Enjoy fresh mountain air surrounded by steep forested hills, swim in clear and refreshing natural pools, and admire cascading streams flowing over layered rocks amidst rare southern plant species.”
Choeng Khiri Waterfall is a hidden natural gem nestled in the valleys of Si Sakhon District. Historically, it has served as an important water source sustaining communities in Choeng Khiri Subdistrict. The name “Choeng Khiri” refers to land at the foothill, perfectly describing the geographical setting of the waterfall. It lies within a mountainous landscape that forms part of the upper watershed of the Sai Buri River inside Namtok Sipo National Park, an area known for its rich tropical rainforest ecosystem.
Once a well-known local attraction, the waterfall gradually became quieter for a period of time before being revitalized through cooperation between local authorities and the community. Today, it has re-emerged as a peaceful and refreshing nature destination ideal for relaxation.
Ecologically, the waterfall plays a crucial role as a headwater stream feeding into the Sai Buri River. The water remains crystal clear and cool throughout the year, naturally filtered by forest soil, roots, and rock layers. The surrounding area is home to diverse southern plant species such as Lumpho trees, Takian trees, and various types of ferns thriving along the rocks and stream banks, enhancing the area’s lush and vibrant atmosphere.
Beyond its scenic beauty, Choeng Khiri Subdistrict is also known for community-based handicraft initiatives that help strengthen local livelihoods. Visiting this waterfall is therefore not only about appreciating nature but also about experiencing the resilience and conservation spirit of the local community.
