“Enjoy the wide scenic view of the freshwater lake reflecting the open sky, surrounded by green grass fields and natural vegetation.”

Thung Yang Daeng Freshwater Lake, locally known as “Bueng Bana,” is a hidden natural oasis located in the inland area of Pattani Province. This unique freshwater “beach” is formed by a large natural lake surrounded by wide lowland plains. When looking across the water, visitors can see a vast calm surface stretching toward the horizon, creating a feeling similar to standing by the sea—except that the water here is completely fresh and surrounded by rich riverside vegetation.

The area around the lake has remained largely untouched by modern development, allowing the natural landscape to retain its original beauty. The peaceful environment, combined with open grassland and scattered trees, creates a relaxing atmosphere that is ideal for quiet retreats and nature appreciation.

The freshwater lake of Thung Yang Daeng also plays an important role in supporting the local community. It serves as a natural resource that sustains livelihoods in Nam Dam Subdistrict and nearby areas. Visitors may see local villagers practicing small-scale freshwater fishing or guiding their cattle to graze along the grassy lakeshore. These scenes reflect the charming rural lifestyle of southern Thailand’s border communities.

In the late afternoon, the area becomes more lively as local families and young people gather to relax, exercise, or simply sit and enjoy the cool breeze. One of the most beautiful moments here is sunset, when the golden light reflects across the still water surface, creating a peaceful and picturesque landscape.

Today, the surroundings of Thung Yang Daeng Freshwater Lake have been gradually improved to support community tourism. Small pavilions and scenic viewpoints have been built in harmony with the natural environment, providing visitors with comfortable resting spots and photo opportunities. Visiting this place offers a different perspective of Pattani tourism—not only the sea, but also tranquil inland landscapes that highlight the richness of freshwater ecosystems and traditional agricultural life.
