“ Golden ordination hall standing prominently, guardian giant statues at the staircase, a seven-headed Naga in front of the temple, and a Naga-protected Buddha on a pink lotus— a peaceful and sacred place for making wishes and paying respect. ”

Wat Pho Si Ban Tum is a rural Buddhist temple under the Maha Nikaya monastic order, located in Laoklang Subdistrict, Khong Chai District, Kalasin Province. It has long served as a spiritual center for the Ban Tum community since its establishment in 1878 (B.E. 2421).The temple plays an important role in both religious and social life in the area, serving as a venue for Buddhist ceremonies, traditional Isan merit-making festivals such as Heet Sib Song and Klong Sib Si, as well as community gatherings and local events. The temple is best known for its striking golden ordination hall, decorated predominantly in gold tones that symbolize faith, prosperity, and sacredness in Buddhism. The structure features detailed stucco work that blends contemporary Buddhist art with traditional Isan artistic styles.

At the staircase leading to the ordination hall, there are two guardian giant (yaksha) statues that symbolically protect the sacred area of the temple. These statues are vividly colored and stand in a majestic posture, reinforcing the spiritual significance of the site. In front of the temple stands a large seven-headed Naga sculpture, representing beliefs in spiritual guardianship, protection of Buddhism, and abundance. The coiled form of the Naga is highly detailed and serves as a popular spot for worship and photography.Inside the temple grounds, there is also a Naga-protected Buddha image enshrined on a pink lotus base. This statue symbolizes protection and peace, and visitors often come here to pray for safety, happiness, and stability in life.

The surrounding environment is calm and shaded with large trees, making it suitable for meditation, spiritual practice, and relaxation away from daily stress.Today, the temple continues to function as a community hub for religious and cultural activities, while also attracting more visitors due to its distinctive architecture and peaceful atmosphere.
