“View the preserved remains of Luang Pu Woraprot Witan, encased in a glass coffin, which has turned golden and remains uncorrupted over time. Pay respects and seek blessings from his statue for good fortune, and experience the serene atmosphere of this ancient temple, which holds significant spiritual importance for the people of Khon Kaen.”

Wat Chumphon, located in Ban Kan Lueang, Waeng Noi District, Khon Kaen Province, is a highly revered temple with a long-standing history, primarily famous for being the residence of "Phra Khru Woraphot Witthan" or "Luang Pu Woraphot Witthan." He was a former abbot and a legendary monk known for his great compassion, spiritual power, and profound knowledge of Dhamma. He remains a pillar of faith for the people of Northeast Thailand and Buddhists across the nation.

The main highlight that draws countless visitors to this temple is the "Luang Pu Woraphot Witthan Mandapa." This elegant pavilion houses the mortal remains of the Great Monk in a glass coffin. What is truly extraordinary—and considered a miracle by many—is that after his passing in 2001, his body did not undergo the natural process of decomposition. Instead, it dried naturally, and more surprisingly, his skin turned into a distinct golden hue. Devotees believe this phenomenon is a testament to the immense merit and strict spiritual discipline he maintained throughout his long life of monkhood.

Beyond the miracle of his incorruptible body, Luang Pu is the central figure of the famous "The Monk Who Tilted the Bus" legend. According to local lore, several decades ago, Luang Pu attempted to board a bus, but the driver was disrespectful and refused to stop properly. When Luang Pu stepped onto the bus's footboard, the entire front of the vehicle reportedly lifted off the ground into the air. Terrified and humbled, the driver immediately came down to apologize. This story has been passed down through generations and solidified his reputation as a monk with miraculous powers.

The atmosphere within Wat Chumphon is serene, shaded by large trees, and perfectly suited for meditation and peaceful contemplation. The temple grounds feature a traditional sermon hall and an ordination hall that showcase simple yet beautiful local northeastern Thai architecture. Visiting this temple is not just about seeking blessings for good fortune, protection, or success, but it is also an opportunity to reflect on the teachings of Luang Pu, who emphasized leading a simple, mindful, and virtuous life.
