“The spiritual heart of Tha Phae, featuring a graceful chapel and peaceful natural surroundings perfect for meditation, prayers, and experiencing Satun’s authentic local Buddhist lifestyle.”

Wat Suan Thet is situated in Ban Pae-ra Nuea, Mu 5, Pae-ra Subdistrict, Tha Phae District, Satun Province, and operates under the Maha Nikaya Sect of the Thai Buddhist Order. The temple grounds are located on a flat plain surrounded by local agricultural communities and fruit orchards, which inspired the name "Suan Thet" (meaning an exotic or cultivated garden). The temple's history is a testament to the profound faith of the local people; it was officially established on August 10, 1998. Before its formal recognition, the site served as a modest monastic residence built by villagers who sought a local center for religious ceremonies, saving them from the long journey to the district's central temples.

Regarding its formal development and architecture, official records from the National Office of Buddhism state that Wat Suan Thet was granted Wisung Khamsima (the royal granting of the land for the main chapel) on January 6, 2010. This consecrated area measures 20 meters in width_ and 40 meters in length, marking its completion as a fully functional temple under both Ecclesiastical and Thai law. The temple complex features several significant structures, including the Uposatha (ordination hall) designed in a contemporary applied Thai style that emphasizes simplicity and grace, a multi-purpose pavilion (Sala Kan Parian) for religious gatherings, monk’s dwellings (Kuti), and a traditional bell tower, all maintained with exceptional tidiness and discipline.

Wat Suan Thet plays a pivotal role in the Tha Phae District as a hub for various religious and social initiatives. It frequently hosts significant community programs, such as the annual summer novice ordination ceremonies and the establishment of a Sunday Buddhist Center to instill moral and ethical values in the youth of Pae-ra Subdistrict. Managed by the current abbot, Phra Khru Sunthorn Thammanithet, the temple functions not only as a residence for monks but also as an educational park and a meditation sanctuary. It serves as a spiritual refuge for practitioners from Satun and neighboring provinces who wish to withdraw from the chaos of daily life to find mental serenity.
