“A long wooden bridge stretches across the lake, offering beautiful sunset views, rafting activities, camping spots, and peaceful relaxation surrounded by lush nature.”

Ko Non Ngio is a natural tourism destination and community recreation area located within Nong Konsan Lake, a large natural freshwater reservoir in Khon San District, Chaiyaphum Province. The lake has long played an important role in the local ecosystem, agriculture, and the daily lives of nearby communities. Surrounded by plains and mountain ranges, the area offers a peaceful atmosphere with cool weather, especially during the evenings and winter season. The name “Non Ngio” comes from the island’s geographical characteristics. In Thai, “non” refers to a small elevated mound or hill, while “ngio” refers to silk cotton trees that once grew densely across the island. Over time, local villagers began calling the area “Ko Non Ngio,” which later became the official name of the attraction.

One of the island’s most iconic highlights is the long wooden bridge stretching across the lake, now considered a popular photography landmark. The bridge connects the mainland to the island and offers panoramic views of the wide water surface reflecting the sky and surrounding mountain scenery. Sunrise and sunset are particularly beautiful, as golden light shimmers across the calm lake, creating an ideal setting for nature and lifestyle photography. The island itself is filled with green open spaces and large shady trees. Visitors can enjoy nature trails, waterside pavilions, and grassy lawns suitable for relaxing, picnicking, or spending time with family and friends. Camping is also a favorite activity here, as the lakeside atmosphere becomes especially cool and peaceful at night, making it perfect for travelers who enjoy quiet outdoor experiences.

Another popular attraction is bamboo rafting and water recreation on Nong Konsan Lake. Splash rafts are especially popular during the hot season, allowing visitors to enjoy the refreshing water while taking in the surrounding scenery. Paddle boats are also available for families and children seeking light recreational activities on the lake.Around the lake, visitors can find local restaurants, community shops, and food stalls serving northeastern Thai cuisine. Popular dishes include som tam (papaya salad), larb, grilled fish, jaew hot pot, and fresh freshwater fish caught directly from the lake. The overall atmosphere reflects the simplicity and friendliness of local community life.

Ecologically, Nong Konsan Lake is also an important wetland area that supports freshwater fish, aquatic plants, and various bird species. During the rainy season, the lake becomes lush and vibrant with especially beautiful scenery, while winter mornings often feature misty landscapes and cool temperatures ideal for camping and relaxation.Although Ko Non Ngio is not a large commercial tourist attraction with luxury facilities, its charm lies in its simplicity, tranquility, and close connection with nature. It is an ideal destination for travelers seeking a slow-life experience, peaceful surroundings, and an authentic glimpse into the local lifestyle of Khon San District.
