“ An 8-storey Royal Commemorative Tower offering 360-degree views of Ranot, alongside twin museums showcasing rare artifacts and local way of life. ”

Buraphachan Park and Ranot Cultural Center, also known as Ranot Museum, is located in Ranot District, Songkhla Province. It serves as both a learning hub and a public space developed to preserve and present the history, culture, and way of life of communities in the Songkhla Lake Basin. The center is designed under the concept of a “living museum,” which goes beyond simply displaying artifacts within buildings, but also creates a dynamic space for learning, recreation, and ongoing community activities.

Spanning over 14 rai, the site is thoughtfully organized into several interconnected zones. The Ranot Museum building showcases traditional ways of life, particularly focusing on agriculture and fisheries, which have long been the economic backbone of the area. Exhibits include traditional farming tools such as sickles, rakes, and plows, rice milling equipment, local boats, and handcrafted items, all reflecting the wisdom and ingenuity of local people passed down through generations. In addition, household items from earlier times and selected historical evidence, including those related to World War II, provide deeper insight into the historical development of the region.

Within the center, the Ancestors Plaza serves as a symbolic space dedicated to honoring teachers and individuals who have made significant contributions to local education. Featuring statues and artistic elements, this area represents respect and the strong bond between the community and educational institutions, and it is often used for cultural ceremonies and important local events.

One of the most prominent highlights is the Royal Commemorative Tower, an approximately 8-storey structure designed as both a viewpoint and an exhibition space. Visitors can enjoy panoramic 360-degree views of Ranot, including its communities, rice fields, and surrounding landscapes that clearly reflect its agricultural identity. The tower is especially popular during the late afternoon when visitors can witness beautiful sunset views. Inside, rotating exhibitions present the historical development of the district across different periods, allowing visitors to understand the area’s evolution from past to present.

Beyond the museum and tower, the center also features extensive recreational areas designed as a true public park for the community. Facilities include sports courts such as tennis courts, exercise areas, a swimming pool, and open spaces for hosting festivals, school events, and local activities. As a result, the center functions not only as a cultural attraction but also as an integral part of everyday life for local residents, encouraging community engagement and continuous use of the space.

Overall, the Cultural and Ancestors Memorial Center reflects a holistic approach to community development, seamlessly connecting the past, present, and future of Ranot in a single, meaningful place.
