“A scenic reservoir embraced by mountains, long dam walkway for leisure, local fishing lifestyle, picnic spots by the water, and nearby 2,500-year-old archaeological site.”

Mae Ramphan Reservoir is a medium-sized reservoir developed under a royal initiative project, located in Ban Dan Lan Hoi District, Sukhothai. With a storage capacity of approximately 8 million cubic meters, it was constructed to collect water from Mae Ramphan Stream for agricultural use and daily consumption, especially during the dry season, making it a crucial water resource for surrounding communities.

Beyond its role in water management, the reservoir also functions as a breeding and conservation area for aquatic life, supporting local livelihoods through traditional fishing and providing additional income for villagers. This highlights a sustainable balance between community life and natural resources.

The main attraction is its panoramic landscape, where a vast body of water is embraced by mountain ranges stretching along the horizon. The reflective water surface creates different moods throughout the day, with the sunset view being especially beautiful and romantic. The long dam walkway is perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling while enjoying the refreshing breeze.

The surrounding area remains clean and largely untouched by urban development, offering a truly peaceful atmosphere. During the cool season, the weather is particularly pleasant, while in the dry season, rock formations and small sandy shores appear along the edges, adding unique visual charm.

Visitors can also experience the local fishing lifestyle, with villagers using small long-tail boats—creating a simple and authentic rural scene. Shaded areas around the reservoir are ideal for relaxing or enjoying a picnic with family and friends.

In addition, the area holds historical value, with nearby discoveries of an archaeological site dating back over 2,500 years, allowing visitors to combine nature exploration with cultural and historical learning.

With its blend of scenic beauty, ecological importance, local culture, and historical significance, Mae Ramphan Reservoir is not only a place to relax but also a destination that reflects the harmony between people and nature.
