“Experience traditional gold panning, visit the Mining Museum, and pay homage to sacred objects at Wat Khao Phanom Pha. Learn about the legend of the underground treasure on a solitary mountain in the middle of the plains.”
Khao Phanom Pha Gold Mine is a mountain standing approximately 100 meters above the plain. In the past, gold nuggets were accidentally discovered, leading to a 'gold rush.' Later, the Phichit Provincial Administrative Organization took over the management of the area so that people could pan for gold legally and systematically.
Gold Panning Lifestyle
The highlight is watching the gold panning process using a 'Liang,' a wooden tool shaped like an Asian conical hat. It is used to separate gold flakes from soil and sand, requiring skill, expertise, and patience. It is a way of life that is rare to see today.
Learning Resources and Museums
Inside the area is a building displaying the history of mining, ancient panning equipment, and geological knowledge about gold minerals found in the area (it is recommended to check the status of museum visits in advance).

Wat Khao Phanom Pha is located near the mine and is revered by the locals and miners. It has a shady and peaceful atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax from the journey.
