“The temple features an exquisite Sri Buddhagaya Replica Pagoda, a distinctive royal barge–inspired architectural design atop the hill, and panoramic 360-degree views over the vast rice fields of Nakhon Sawan.”

Wat Pa Siriwattanawisut (Royal Temple) is not only a place for Buddhist practice, but also a remarkable work of religious art. Gracefully situated on the summit of Phanasawan Hill, the temple is surrounded by tranquil natural forest and expansive views of the Nakhon Sawan plains.

Royal Connection

This temple received royal patronage from Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, who graciously accepted it as a Royal Temple and presided over the construction of the Sri Buddhagaya Pagoda. The pagoda was built as a royal merit dedication to
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX).

Sri Buddhagaya Replica Pagoda

The pagoda is a brick-red, square-based structure, faithfully modeled after the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, India. It enshrines sacred Buddhist relics, features a meditation hall inside, and is adorned with intricately carved reliefs depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha.

Spiritual Symbolism of the Architecture

The overall design of the temple resembles a royal barge, symbolizing the concept of “the Dhamma Vessel.” This profound symbolism represents a spiritual vessel guiding Buddhists across the ocean of samsara toward the shore of Nirvana.

Sacred Sites on Phanasawan Hill

In addition to the main pagoda, the temple complex includes a replica Buddha footprint pavilion and meditation halls, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding forest. Visitors can experience deep spiritual serenity while enjoying sweeping panoramic views from the hilltop.
