Wat Khok Ta Phrom is a rural Buddhist temple under the Mahanikaya monastic order, located in Ta Chong Subdistrict, Lahan Sai District, Buriram Province. It was officially established on 27 September 1984, originating from the strong faith and cooperation of local villagers who wanted a spiritual center for their community.
In its early period, the temple began as a small monastic residence and was gradually developed through the support of villagers and monks until it became a more complete temple with established religious buildings and an active community role.
Inside the temple are key structures such as the ordination hall (ubosot), used for important Buddhist ceremonies including ordinations, and the sermon hall (sala kan parian), used for Dhamma studies, monastic meetings, and community activities. The architecture follows a contemporary Thai style, emphasizing simplicity and harmony with the rural surroundings, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The temple plays an important role in the Ta Chong community as a center for religious and cultural activities, including traditional merit-making festivals such as Buddhist Lent ceremonies and Kathina robe offerings. It also serves as a place for moral education for children and youth, as well as a venue for community meetings and public gatherings.
With its quiet and natural environment, Wat Khok Ta Phrom is suitable for meditation and mindfulness practice. Monks at the temple also provide Dhamma guidance to both local residents and visitors seeking spiritual practice.
In addition, the temple holds cultural significance as it helps preserve the traditional way of life of the Isan South community, including customs, language, and Buddhist beliefs, making it an important center that continuously connects and strengthens community relationships.
