“Enshrines “Phra Phuttha Patima Santayaphirom Satuek Udomrat Nimit Muninthorn,” a large walking Buddha statue beside the Mun River, with scenic views of Satuek sandbars that serve as the royal trophy long boat racing venue.”
The Satuek District Cultural Center is located along the Mun River within Satuek Municipality. It is a large public park stretching over 600 meters along the riverside, serving as both a recreational space for the community and a key cultural hub of Satuek District.
At the heart of the site stands the enshrined “Phra Phuttha Patima Santayaphirom Satuek Udomrat Nimit Muninthorn,” a prominent large walking Buddha statue situated by the Mun River. It symbolizes peace, serenity, and the faith of the local people. Visitors can come to pay respects, make wishes, and take photos with the expansive river as a scenic backdrop—especially during sunset, when golden light reflects beautifully on the water and the statue.
The surrounding area is designed as a lush landscaped park, featuring large trees, open lawns, activity spaces, and riverside walkways. It is ideal for strolling, jogging, cycling, or simply relaxing while enjoying nature. There are also several seating areas and photo spots offering views of the “Satuek sandbars,” which become clearly visible during the dry season, forming a wide and unique sandy landscape in the middle of the river.
Culturally, the center serves as a venue for important local events, most notably the Royal Trophy Long Boat Racing Festival, held annually at the end of the rainy season (around October–November). During this time, the Mun River in front of the center transforms into a grand racing arena, with teams from various regions competing and crowds of spectators creating a lively and festive atmosphere that reflects the community’s deep connection to the river.
In addition, the site hosts the Mun River Fish Festival and other cultural activities such as traditional performances, community markets, and local product fairs. These events help support the local economy and preserve the unique cultural identity of Satuek.
With its combination of religious significance, natural beauty, and cultural vibrancy, the Satuek District Cultural Center is more than just a public park—it is a “living space” for the community and a meaningful destination that showcases the simple yet valuable charm of Buriram for travelers seeking an authentic local experience.
